NEWS RELEASE
Peel & Stick Engine Preheater
North Aurora, IL
October 2005
Hugh Goulding, President of E TIP, Inc. announces the availability of the Universal Preheater for engines, transmissions, hydraulics, gear boxes, storage tanks, reservoirs, etc.
Each thin, flexible silicone/fiberglass heating pad is designed to mount permanently to the outside bottom or side of the housing using a permanent Peel & Stick adhesive. A specialized flexible ceramic insulation pad is mounted on top of the Universal Preheater helping to drive more heat into the housing while keeping the electrical draw low. The Universal Preheater converts the metal of the housing into a heat transfer element eliminating the possibility of burning the oil by exposing a large square inch surface of oil to low watt heat. There is no "coking" of the oil.
The Universal Preheater is ideally suited to air-cooled engines because it can be mounted over ribs, recessed bolt heads, etc. and easily tolerates trapped air pockets without the risk of burn-out.
Efficiency of the Universal Preheater stays like new because there are no coils to clog from cooling system by-products and no contaminants to impair performance. No drilling or welding is required on hydraulic reservoirs as the Universal Preheater mounts to the outside of the housing using a 3M® adhesive. A typical installation takes from 15 minutes to 30 minutes for most applications. There is no risk of hydraulic or coolant or oil leaks because no system is invaded.
Typical temperatures achieved in the first hour of warming from 0° F. range up to +50° F. without burning the oil. When left energized 6 to 8 hours or longer it produces an estimated 100° F. to 120° F. oil temperature. Being continuously energized will not harm the oil or the Preheater and moisture is driven out of the oil. This helps to avoid the formation of acids in the engine oil that etches bearings and shortens engine life.
The Universal Preheater draws 1/3 less electrical power than conventional block heaters helping to cut the electrical bill dramatically. It reduces the cold start load on the engine electrical system, too. Battery and starter life is extended. Wear and tear on the engine itself is reduced because the heated oil provides instant lubrication even in the coldest weather. Hot oil helps that last engine bearing on start up to get lubrication sooner and to last longer.
Universal Heater Co. designed and assembled individual specifications for "kit" versions to serve the most common equipment cold weather needs. These kit sizes are based on the capacity of the housing and the energy level needed for that volume.
The Universal Heater Company also designs custom Preheaters for a wide variety of applications. From Coast Guard Cutters and other vessels operating in severe cold climates to ATMs in Alaska to Oil Drilling rigs in Siberia, we have designed and delivered innovative Preheaters to improve performance and operations in very cold places.
