NEWS RELEASEMulti-Vehicle Toll Transponder Mounting SystemNorth Aurora, IL Many commuters across our great country travel on toll roads daily. The most modern collection of the tolls is through the use of the wireless radio transponder. The driver can drive past the toll booth and his credit card account is automatically charged for the toll fee. This seems to be the most efficient way to move traffic and still allow the Toll Authority to be paid. The transponder is usually mounted on the windshield of the vehicle. Because the transponder may require service or the driver has a need to move it to another vehicle, the Toll Authority delivers the new transponder with four "hook and loop" mounting strips with adhesive on the back. Two of those strips are mounted to the windshield and two are mounted on the back of the transponder. By pulling on the transponder the "hook and loop" releases and then the transponder can be removed from the windshield. Although this seems to be a reasonable way to allow easy removal of the transponder, many drivers find this method difficult to work with. Hugh Goulding of E TIP, Inc. suggests that a new product, the "Switchpass", is far easier to work with and it is more reliable than "hook and loop" mounting strips. The Switchpass consists of one clear plastic plate with two lugs that mount to the transponder with double sided tape and a second clear plastic plate with mounting holes to match the lugs. The mechanical fit between the two plates is snug and yet it is easy to release and store or move the transponder. Each kit will equip two vehicles with the windshield plate and one plate for the transponder. It is designed to allow easy movement of the transponder between two vehicles. There may be other be other unique applications of this innovative device such as mounting a normally hand-held GPS module... More details avaialble at www.switchpass.com |
